Y’all, FALL is slowing coming in the air. Just thinking of it makes you smell the campfires, s’mores, baked goods, everything apple and pumpkin, and the beauty of the outdoors. One of the most beautiful seasons of the year! So stay tuned for more fall recipes to come… But until then, I decided to put together a small list of a few of my favorite simple health remedies that have helped my little one overcome simple health issues like diaper rashes and colds.
For Diaper Rashes:
My little one has struggled with having diaper rashes on and off. And took a while to find something that actually worked consistently. We tried regular diaper creams that you can find in your local store but they just never helped our son’s bottom. So after doing a bit of research and asking other mommas, we found that coconut oil and Angel Baby Bottom Balm Natural Cloth Diaper Cream (2 Fl. Oz.) to be our favorites!
We used organic coconut oil a lot when our son was just born and it worked like magic. You just rub it on in the diaper area and put on the diaper and it helps to heal the diaper rash.
Angel Baby Bottom Balm works in a similar way. It’s all organic and it uses a blend of organic herbs and pure essential oils to help heal diaper rashes. It also works really great on those stubborn rashes that sometime take days to heal.
For Yeast Infections:
I never knew that young children could get yeast infections until our little guy got one. No good. Our pediatrician recommended Nystatin, a topical anti-fungal cream. But we wanted to research if there was another alternative. After a little searching we found a remedy that used a 50/50 solution of Bragg Usda Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, 32 Fluid Ounce and water to help heal yeast infections. (We ended up finding out that using a 75/25 solution of apple cider vinegar to water worked best.)
Not going to lie, we were definitely skeptical that this would even work. But we thought we’d give it a shot. So after about 2 applications of rubbing this solution on, we were shocked to find that our son’s bottom was much better! Redness, irritation, and infected looking areas were greatly reduced. After 2 days it was practically gone.
I’m not a huge fan of the smell of apple cider vinegar. But knowing that it’s safe to use and consume, it was definitely worth it.
Colds are fun for no one, no matter how young or old. With cold season practically knocking on our doorstep it’s best to be prepared! My husband and I found 2 things that we would recommend ALL parents to get for their children whenever they have colds. A Fridababy NoseFrida SnotSucker Saline Kit and Crane Drop Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier – White. They are a life saver. At least for us!
I’ve mentioned this Nose Freida before in a previous post, but just to reiterate here because it works SO well. It looks a little strange and disgusting when you first look at it but it really works. When our son gets sick with a runny nose, this is our go to. We now have the saline spray that goes with it and it works great. Just spray, suck, and you have a clean nose and happier child! There is no snot that ends up end your mouth. I promise! They have filters to block that out. It helps to get out most of the snot in their noses. They are relatively easy to clean too!
The Cool Mist Humidifier works so great too! Our home gets drier air during the cooler months so this is a must have for us. It puts out a quiet, cool mist that helps to keep the air moist wherever our son is napping or sleeping. It’s so easy to clean, store, and use. It’s quiet and automatically shuts off when it runs out of water, which we love. We’ve even used it when we have been sick and it helps us to breathe much better.
Hope this list of simple health remedies is helpful for you! We use them all the time in our home and love them and would recommend them. If you have any experiences with any of these products or have different things you would recommend to parents, please comment below.
In the meantime, grab yourself a delicious pumpkin treat and good cup of coffee to bring in this fall weather!
