Pesto Tomato Cheese Pizza. For me, it’s a healthier pizza that I don’t feel guilty for eating. It’s not greasy and it’s super delicious. My husband even loves this pizza!
If you asked my a few years ago to eat this pizza, I wouldn’t have wanted to because it wasn’t real pizza (and by real I mean pepperoni). I hated chopped tomatoes on my pizza. But as I get older, I learn to like things I didn’t. Crazy how that works, isn’t it?
This pizza is super easy to make. The pizza crust takes the most time because you have to let it rise. But after the dough is risen and rolled out, it takes only 15 minutes to bake!! Yummy goodness!! To start making the pizza, I make whole wheat pizza dough. You may be thinking whole wheat pizza crust? Is that even good? Honestly, I think it’s a great way to eat pizza. It adds a whole layer of flavor to your pizza. And you can’t really tell that it’s “whole wheat”. My husband now prefers whole wheat pizza crust to regular white crust. Once the dough is done, I spread a thin layer of pesto on top. Then, I follow that with grated mozzarella cheese. After that, cover the top with lots of thinly sliced Roma tomatoes. And bake!
Final result is a out-of-the-oven fresh baked pizza that’s healthy for you too. I add some crushed red pepper flakes to my pizza because it adds just a little kick. It hits the spot every single time. This pesto tomato cheese pizza has become a favorite in my house. So if you’re craving pizza, you ought to give this recipe a go!
