Smoothies seem to be the new go-to for breakfasts. They are great for grab n’ go mornings. They are easy to make and you can put basically anything you want in them. And for the most part, they’re pretty healthy for you too. Well, this morning I was feeling a smoothie… so I made a berry peach smoothie. Greatest thing?! It only took 6 ingredients! I love simple and quick recipes. We had an a peach that was getting almost too ripe, so I needed to use it right away. Those peaches were from our local Farmer’s Market and you could literally taste the right-off-the-tree freshness.
We LOVE going to the Farmer’s Market. Whether it’s for getting out for some fresh air or getting some fresh fruits or vegetables, we love it. You can practically smell their gardens as you walk through. It makes you want to come up with recipes just to buy everything. Maybe you could buy on of everything and blend those together in a smoothie?!…. Maybe not, it may end up being like a V8 juice gone bad.
Anyways…to make this smoothie, I blended together blueberries, strawberries, peach, yogurt, milk and ground flax seed. You don’t have to add flax seed to the smoothie but it adds those extra omega 3s which are healthy fats to eat. Quick tip about flax seed- in order to receive the benefits of flax seed it needs to be ground. Otherwise, you’re swallowing seeds and you’ll probably see it next time you use take a stop at the restroom, if you know what I mean.
Hope you enjoy this smoothie as much as we did!
