Banana Berry Chia Seed Smoothie

Happy November 1st! Stores are now filling up with Christmas decorations. Aisles are filled with pumpkin, gingerbread, chocolates, peppermint and everything fit for the holiday season. I’m still over here trying to savor each bit of Fall that I can.

While savoring the fact that today is the beginning of November, I made a Banana Berry Chia Seed Smoothie. Does it speak Fall? Not quite. But it’s definitely refreshing!

I, personally, had never bought or tried chia seed before. I kept seeing post after post about chia seeds and was thinking that I needed to try it. So, after several weeks of not giving into the chia seed trend, I finally did it. Can I just tell you that those little seeds are superfoods?! They are a bit smaller than flax seed and you really can’t taste their flavor. They have lots of fiber and other great nutrients, which help to keep you (and me) fuller longer.

This Banana Berry Chia Seed Smoothie is super simple to make. It took only 5 ingredients – one banana, 1 cup frozen berries, 2 tablespoons vanilla greek yogurt, 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon chia seeds. Blend up all those ingredients! Now, you have a delicious, healthy, superfood smoothie. Did I mention that this can be made dairy free? Use dairy free yogurt instead of greek yogurt!

Banana Berry Chia Seed Smoothie

Healthy fruit smoothie with chia seeds. Perfect way to energize your day!

Ingredients

  • 1 banana peeled
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup water (or milk if you prefer)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in blender.
  2. Blend until everything is a smooth consistency.
  3. Pour and serve!
