Hey friends! Today I have a healthier snack for you that’s also kid-friendly. They’re “Na-cho” regular nachos! Okay, a little cheesy I know…
But, these Apple Nachos are a great healthy snack and super simple to make. You can make these “loaded” or keep them more on the simple side. Plus, during this time of year, you’re sure to find apples around every corner for the apple pies and homemade ciders. Instead of giving into all the cookies and dessert this season (which is a huge struggle for me, but we’re working on that…), try snacking on these healthy fun apple nachos!
They’re also a great snack for kids too! Maybe they can even help you make them! I think kids in the kitchen is a great way for them to learn about food and to learn how to cook. They can learn what different fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, and other foods are called at a very early age. And learn why they are good for their bellies and bodies.
To make these nachos, you need your favorite apples, peanut butter, and chocolate. My personal favorite apples are Galas and Fuji but my husband loves Pink Lady. So use whatever you have. Slice apples into thin pieces.
Spread them across a plate or parchment paper and drizzle peanut butter on top of them. To make the peanut butter easier to drizzle, microwave for 30 seconds. If you have a peanut allergy and can eat other nuts, consider using cashew or almond butter. If you have a nut allergy all together, drizzle some sunflower seed butter, melted chocolate, caramel, or maple syrup instead. Dust a little ground cinnamon on top with chocolate chips and you have yourself a delicious treat!
If you want to really “load” up these nachos, drizzle peanut butter, melted chocolate, and caramel. Add chocolate chips, raisins, crushed nuts, and cinnamon. The varieties are endless. Make them as healthy or dare I say, unhealthy, as you want. The sweetness of the toppings pairs so perfectly with the tartness of the apples. You’ll be coming back for more!
Enjoy this healthier snack! Happy snacking from my kitchen to yours!
