This homemade enchilada sauce is some of the best stuff ever. You’ll never want to buy canned again.
It’s super easy and only takes 10 MINUTES to make! Super simple, yet it tastes like a little bit of a Mexican restaurant in your mouth.
All it takes is flour, chili powder, vegetable oil mixed together in a heated pot. Then add to that, chicken stock, tomato paste, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. Be sure it’s actually chili powder because I’ve known people who have used cayenne pepper instead… End result- SPICY!
So, there you have it, friends! This goes great on chicken or beef enchiladas, or my homemade enchiladas, or even in some soups or chilis.
This recipe was adapted from Gimme Some Oven’s Red Enchilada Sauce.
